  1. Look for other titles by an author you enjoy
  2. Ask friends about books they like
  3. Use Destiny to search by author, title, subject, or series
  4. Browse the shelves
  5. Tell what you enjoy reading
  6. Ask parents or teachers about books they enjoyed at your age
  7. Look through lists of award-winning books

Do you have a favorite book?

The librarian's favorite is a book by Wilson Rawls called Summer of the Monkeys.

Why?

  1. It's historical fiction
  2. It takes place (is set) in Oklahoma Territory
  3. Grandpa and Jay Berry have a wonderful relationship
  4. It's full of humor
  5. Jay Berry learns many important lessons
  6. It's a Sequoyah Award winner (from 1979)

Checkout Procedure

  1. One book at a time
  2. May have a second book if needed for a research project
  3. Regular checkout is two weeks
  4. Most reference books are overnight checkout or teacher checkout only
  5. Most books may be rechecked
  6. Return book to "book drop" when finished
  7. Must return current book before checking out another
  8. Find another good book and read, read, read!
